This fruit cake disguised as an apple pie was fun to make with the little Granny sugar model and we really went to town on the cake boards dressing them up to look like a Cornishware plate on a wooden table.
The customer who commissioned this birthday cake tasted our fruit cake at the wedding fare at The Alexandra, Lyme Regis in January. He had already ordered his wedding cake but liked the recipe so much he was determined to have a slice on his wedding day. Luckily Grandma was turning 98 on the day of his wedding so we got to make the birthday cake!
