Despite moaning on about the distinct lack of cake in my blog post about birthday cakes, I did actually get a rather big treat for my birthday this year in the form of a grown-ups only trip to London.
We had a tour of Buckingham Palace and a ‘flight’ on the London Eye but by far the biggest treat was lunch at The Ritz. The food, service and ambiance were outstanding but unfortunately photography is not allowed so I can’t share it with you!
However, we did manage to squeeze in a quick visit to Harrods. It would have been a longer visit if they didn’t open so unbelievably late on a Sunday. Doors don’t open until 11:30am then it’s browsing only until 12:00pm! And they say country living is slow paced
We couldn’t hang around waiting for the tills to open but I did manage to snap a few photographs of the wonderful patisserie counter. It’s just a shame I didn’t get to taste any of it
So enough of my waffling, here are some photographs for you to enjoy. Do not proceed if you are on a diet!
A selection of fresh cream cakes, I love the little two tier strawberry cakes.
Designer Whoopie Pies.
Fresh fruit pastries – must be healthy with all that fruit on them!
The poshest eclairs I’ve ever seen. And yes, that does say £3.50 each!
If you are wondering where the cupcake photo’s are I didn’t take any as they were rather disappointing in comparison to the other cakes. They may well have tasted spectacular (I didn’t try them) but in comparison to the other delights on display I thought they looked rather ordinary. I thought I would also share these photos with you. They’re not cake related – I just like them !
An alternative view of the London Eye.
The beautiful sunset as we were driving home, a bit blurred as we were travelling at 70mph on the motorway. Don’t worry – I wasn’t driving
