Purple Butterfly Wedding Cupcake Tower

Bountiful is the word that comes to mind when we look at these gorgeous photographs of Joanne and Jason’s wedding cupcake tower. One hundered cupcakes with a top tier is the perfect amount to fill our seven tier maypole stand, leaving a few cupcakes to spill over from the bottom tier, inviting your guests to dig in! Purple and ivory is a classic wedding colour palette that never seems to go out of style, along with butterlies and roses. We made the top tier ‘floating’ for this display to add to the light feeling given by the flight of sugar butterflies alighting on it. With four flavours of cupcake and a rich fruit top tier there were plenty of choices to keep everyone happy too. Here’s what the bride and groom had to say about thier lovley cake:

Shabby Chic Wedding Cupcake Tower

Simon and Emma had a relaxed vintage feel in mind for their wedding day in the beautiful setting of Hestercombe Gardens so wanted something vintagey but not too regimented for their cupcake tower. We achieved an informal, shabby chic look with a mixture of textures, shapes and colours using smooth fondant and fluffy buttercream with roses, blossoms and pearls in ivory, soft pink and fresh green. Simon was keen to have a bespoke bride and groom topper but Emma didn’t like the idea of them standing on top so we seated them in amongst the cupcakes for a more subtle look that tied in well with the style of the cake.

Hot Flower Cupcake Tower

Mediteranean colours were the order of the day for Dawn and Ali’s relaxed wedding at the Olive Shed on the waterfront in Bristol. Not only were the shabby chic style flowers and the frosting in hot colours, with red velvet amongst the choice of flavours so were the cakes! A mixture of full size and mini cupcakes added to the informal feel and catered for a range of appetites.

‘Love is Sweet’ Red & Ivory Cupcake Tower

We realy enjoyed working on Scott and Carly’s elegant cupcake tower as Carly was all about getting the details right and Scott was all about the cake! We’re sure Scott won’t mind us saying that we’ve never had a groom try quite so many flavours during the consultation!

The elegant rose piped cupcakes were given a personal twist with the addition of the sweet cupcake picks in colours to complement the scheme and the vibrant red of the baking cases was kept in check by the delicate ivory cupcake wrappers. Set up along with a cake ‘menu’ in a pretty frame we think they looked at home in the beautiful surroundings of Maunsel House, one of our favourite Somerset wedding venues.

National Cupcake Week 2011

We were incredibly excited back in August to reach the Finals of the National Cupcake Championships 2011 with our Cherry Coke Float cupcake. We fought off stiff competition from some of the best cupcakers in the country to reach the prestigeous finals held at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. We were very proud, not to mention star-struck, to have our cakes judged by the likes of Miss Cakehead, Eric Lanlard and Peggy Porschen to name just a few.

Here is one of our 12 identical cupcakes that made it through a very cramped and hot tube journey into the heart of London during the rush hour – not a journey we’d like to repeat in a hurry! The recipe was especially created for the competition and consists of a dark, sticky cola flavoured cake filled with home made cherry compote and topped with vanilla ‘ice cream’, a fresh cherry and cherry coke flavoured bubble sugar. Although we didn’t win on the day we were chuffed to be there and very proud of our little cakes!

The National Cupcake Championships form part of the build up to National Cupcake Week which runs from the 12th to the 18th fo September this year. This annual event is now in it’s third year and was established by the industry publication British Baker to help promote fresh baked cupcakes and all those that bake them. Blue & Ivory Wedding Cupcakes

We loved the colour combination of blue and ivory which Amanda and Dean had chosen for their wedding cupcake tower with just a little added bling from the diamante ribbon buckles on the top tier. A very clean looking theme that we thought worked really well. We also loved Amanda’s choice of lemon for the cupakes as it is so unexpected to bite in to a blue cupcake and taste zingy lemon!

Boys 16th Birthday Cupcakes

Shooting Star Wedding Cupcakes

The design of this wedding cupcake tower was based on a little trinket that the groom bought for the bride after their first date – a little silver shooting star with the inscription ‘I made a wish and you came true’. Altogether now – Ahhhhhhhh!

Pink on Pink Wedding Cupcake Tower

We like a bride who knows what she wants and this bride wanted pink! With a different venue for the wedding breakfast and the evening reception the delivery of this wedding cupcake tower was made in two parts. The top tier was used at the wedding breakfast for the ‘cutting of the cake’ photographs then taken to the evening venue where the cupcake tower was assembled and awaiting the top tier! We hope to have a photograph with the top tier in place soon!
