Land Rover Discovery Cake

Another petrol head’s birthday cake – this time a Land Rover Discovery 3. This customer ordered the cake to celebrate her husbands 40th birthday. The couple actually went on holiday in thier Discovery, touring Morocco. The thing on top of the car is a roof tent – just when we thought Land Rovers couldn’t be any cooler we discover the roof tent. You learn something new everyday when making cakes – much of it has nothing to do with baking!

Another brilliant cake. You really are fab at carved cakes. Can I be cheeky and ask a query – what cutters do you use for the lettering here? I’ve been searching for some like these but without success to date.

Hi Nicola,

Thanks, I seem to be getting a rep for making car cakes!! I don’t recall what brand the alphabet cutters are, they come in a silver tin and make quite big letters that I find ideal for men’s cakes and cakes where there is quite a bit of space on the board. I got them from my local kitchen shop so I will check next time I go in and see what the brand was.

Not the best weekend – we had Jess for 12 years so she has left a large doggy shaped hole in our lives Little Mr Ice Maiden is already asking for a puppy though!!!
