Well here we go at last, my first official blog post! This is something I have been aiming to do since setting up my website back in November 09 so I’m really please to have somewhere to ‘talk’ to you all at last.
The main focus of the blog will be on baking and cake decorating and on keeping you up to date with what is going on at Ice Maiden HQ but don’t be surprised to see posts on other topics too – as Mr Ice Maiden would testify, I have a lot so say!
This past week has been a busy one with a full diary of bespoke cake orders and lots of fruit cakes being baked ready for weddings later in the summer.
We delivered to a venue that’s new to us on Sunday, the beautiful King’s Arms at Charlton Horethorne. It is such a surprise to walk into this charming old hamstone building and find a modern, light and stylish interior. I am already working on Mr Ice Maiden to persuade him we need to go there for dinner!

We also received the exciting news that we have been successful in our application for a stand at the new SomerZest festival to be held at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil during August. More news to follow on this in a later post. We are still waiting to hear if we have passed the rigourous selection process for the Somerset Farmer’s Markets however – places are much coveted so we may have to wait a while for a slot to open up. We are itching to get our product out to a wider audience so if you know of any food or craft fares coming up let us know and we’ll do our best to come along.
